Run TotalGTM From Inside Claude: Our New MCP Connector

Connect TotalGTM to Claude with our new MCP connector and run prospecting in a chat: find companies, research accounts, and draft outreach from your own data.

A lot of sales work has quietly moved into chat. You ask an assistant to summarize a company, rough out an email, figure out who to talk to. The problem is that the assistant doesn’t know anything about your accounts, your ICPs, or the research you’ve already done. So you end up copying things back and forth between two windows.

That’s the gap we’re closing. TotalGTM now has an MCP connector, which means you can plug the platform straight into Claude and work against your actual data without leaving the conversation.

What MCP actually is

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It’s an open standard for letting an AI assistant talk to outside software in a structured way. You can think of it as giving Claude a set of buttons it’s allowed to press on your behalf.

In our case those buttons are the things you already do in TotalGTM: generate an opportunity landscape, search for companies in a territory, pull up a contact, write outreach, score a reply. There are close to forty of them. You never press any of them directly. You describe what you’re after and Claude figures out which ones to use.

How we kept it safe

We didn’t want this to be a place where you paste an API key and hope for the best. So:

  • You sign in with OAuth, the same way you’d log in anywhere else. Nothing to copy, nothing to leak, and you can pull access whenever you want.
  • Everything Claude does runs as you. It sees exactly what you’d see in the app and nothing more.
  • Reading and writing are treated differently. Looking things up is read-only and just happens. Anything that creates or changes data pauses for your okay first.
  • Edits are deliberate. If you ask Claude to change an ICP, it pulls up the current version, shows you what it wants to change, and waits for you to approve before saving.

Connecting TotalGTM to Claude

Add a connector in Claude pointing at https://mcp.totalgtm.ai, sign in with your TotalGTM account, approve it, and you’re done. From there Claude can reach your ICPs, contacts, company research, territory searches, saved writing styles, and outreach history.

What you can do from a Claude chat

The best way to explain this is to show you a few things you’d actually type. These are real workflows, not demos.

Finding companies. Say you sell sales-automation software and you want manufacturers near Denver:

“Find me manufacturing companies within 25 miles of Denver that fit my ICP.”

Claude sorts out which Denver you mean, checks the ICP you’ve already defined, and searches the corpus for net-new targets, not your existing contacts, and hands back a ranked list with firmographics and locations. Curious about one of them? “Tell me more about the third one” pulls the full record.

Researching an account. Before you reach out to someone cold:

“Do a deep dive on Nextracker. What would they care about, and who should I be talking to?”

You get the pains, the market context, a summary, and then the LinkedIn searches for the specific roles worth contacting. And if you already know somebody there, asking “who do I know at Nextracker?” checks your own contacts.

Writing the email. Once you know who you’re after:

“Write a short cold email to their VP of Sales.”

Claude knows your saved writing styles, so it’ll ask which voice you want and then write a subject and body off your value prop and the prospect’s role. It’s the same personalization that makes cold outreach land. If you’d rather compare, ask for three variations and it’ll score each one so you can pick.

Dealing with the response. When something lands in your inbox:

“They said ‘interesting, but reach out next quarter.’ What is this and what do I do?”

It tells you what kind of reply that is, reads the tone, and suggests the next move.

Scouting a portfolio. This one runs in the background:

“Scout Sequoia’s portfolio for companies that fit my ICP.”

It works through the firm’s portfolio and surfaces the matches. Check back later by asking how the scout turned out.

Why we built an MCP connector

None of this replaces the app. The landscapes you can click around in, the dashboards, the stuff your team shares are all still where they’ve always been, and for some work the visual view is the right one. What the connector adds is a faster door in. The annoying part of prospecting is rarely the thinking. It’s the stitching together: resolving a city, matching an ICP, finding the right persona, drafting and scoring a message. That collapses into a sentence or two of conversation.

If you’re already on TotalGTM, point Claude at https://mcp.totalgtm.ai and try “what’s in my account?” to see it work. If you’re not, you can start a free trial, set up your first ICP, and go from there.
